Zecyte is indicated for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and is also used in high-risk metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC), typically combined with androgen deprivation therapy and prednisone/prednisolone to reduce the risk of side effects such as high blood pressure, fluid retention, and low potassium. It should be taken on an empty stomach — either one hour before or at least two hours after a meal — since taking it with food can increase drug absorption and raise the risk of side effects.
Regular liver function monitoring is required throughout treatment: before starting therapy, every two weeks for the first three months, and monthly thereafter, with immediate testing if signs of liver toxicity appear. Patients should be aware that visible benefits may take several weeks to months to appear, and treatment should not be stopped without the doctor's advice.
