Description

Fixu-CV combines Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, with Potassium Clavulanate, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Cefixime works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, controlling bacterial growth and killing the organism. However, some bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase that can destroy Cefixime and render it ineffective. Potassium Clavulanate inactivates this enzyme, protecting Cefixime and restoring its activity against otherwise resistant bacterial strains.

This combination is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), urinary tract infections, ear infections, throat and tonsil infections, skin infections, and in some cases, gonorrhoea and enteric (typhoid) fever. By covering a broader spectrum of bacteria than Cefixime alone, Fixu-CV is often used for infections that have developed resistance to standard antibiotics.

The tablet should be taken after a meal with plenty of water to reduce stomach irritation, swallowed whole without chewing or crushing. Doses should not be skipped, and the full prescribed course must be completed even if symptoms improve early, to fully clear the infection and reduce the risk of resistance developing.
