Honeywell Orbit 7120 Barcode Scanner

A handheld barcode scanner is any scanner that is held in the hand of the user during operation. What is a barcode scanner? Barcode scanners record and translate barcodes from the image you recognize into alphanumeric digits. The scanner then sends that information along to a computer database, either through a wired connection or wirelessly (depending on the model). The heart of the handheld scanner is its detector array: a set of tiny light sensors formed into a line that takes up most of the scanner's length. As it passes over a document, the scanner illuminates the page, and the sensors pick up the image or text as a set of points of light.A barcode, consisting of bars and spaces, is a machine-readable representation of numerals and characters. Today, stripes as shown below on packages of products sold at supermarkets, convenience stores and other stores are ubiquitous. These are barcodes.
