Centrifugal Compressors

Centrifugal compressor means any machine for raising the pressure of a natural gas by drawing in low pressure natural gas and discharging significantly higher pressure natural gas by means of mechanical rotating vanes or impellers.Centrifugal compressors are used in pipeline booster service where high volume and low compression ratios exist. They are also used in very high flow rate gas lift service. They are not very well suited for high ratio, low-volume applications.A centrifugal air compressor develops pressure by accelerating a gas from the center of the impeller, through the “impeller”, by centrifugal force, and then slowing it down in a “diffuser” through expansion.Centrifugal air compressors are used throughout all types of industrial manufacturing and are most often found in large volume production plants and refineries. They feature minimal parts, less maintenance, and greater capacities per square foot, making them a dependable source of clean, oil-free, compressed air.
