The term 'CIJ printer' is often used as an abbreviation of 'continuous inkjet printer'. In a Continuous Inkjet Printer, ink is pumped from an ink reservoir and ejected through a nozzle that creates, well, a jet of ink. That jet of ink is broken up into a large number of ink droplets through high frequency vibration.
