Description
An iron basketball ring, also known as a hoop, is a circular metal ring that supports the basketball net and is attached to the backboard. It's typically made from a 5/8 inch diameter solid steel rod, formed into a ring with an 18-inch inside diameter. The rim is designed to be breakaway, with a hinge and spring mechanism that allows it to flex under pressure, preventing backboard breakage.
