In chronic hepatitis B, it may be used as a single agent to suppress viral replication and reduce liver inflammation and fibrosis progression over time. The tablet is generally taken once daily with food, at a consistent time, and treatment must be continued exactly as prescribed — stopping abruptly, particularly in hepatitis B patients, can cause a sudden flare-up of liver disease.
