Marshall Stability Test Apparatus

The Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine is used to determine the maximum load and flow values of bituminous mixtures. Capacity is 50 kN. The machine comprises compact two column frame with adjustable upper cross beam. Platen speed is 50.8 mm/min.It is used for measurement of resistance to plastic flow of cylindrical specimens of bituminous paving mixture loaded on the lateral surface. The machine can provide measurement data for use with hot mixture containing asphalt or tar and aggregate up to 25.4mm maximum size.Marshall Stability alone, however, is not an absolute measure of strength. It is believed that the results of this analysis will be very useful in highway and airfield design. All of these are used to measure plastic stability or the ability of a mix to resist being squeezed out from under a load.
