Description

A shell-and-tube heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that consists of a cylinder carrying one fluid, with some smaller cylinders inside it carrying another fluid. A shell-and-tube heat exchanger utilizing downflow of the feed gas through the tubes can be used for feed gas cooling.Tubes of a shell and tube heat exchanger are welded or extruded and made from carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, or copper. Tube diameters of 0.625 inch (16mm), 0.75 inch (19mm), or one inch (25mm) are used in compact heat exchangers.
